On our first weekend in Paris...

... it rained.

Fortunately, after the rain stopped, the weather was much less humid which made it more comfortable for us to walk around outside.

The rain ended at around 4:00pm on Saturday. As we were getting ready to leave the house, we heard discotheque music *blasting* from somewhere nearby. Worried that it was coming from the bar across the street and that this would be a regular occurrence starting from Saturday afternoon on through the wee hours of the night, we ventured out...to find a Techno Parade passing by our apartment! There were floats filled with people dancing passing by and even people dancing on top of the busstop! We bopped to the music a bit before heading in the opposite direction toward the Marais.

We stopped at a park where there were children frolicking in the playground, a well-kept duck pond, and people chatting on benches and strolling about. It's exactly how I imagined a Parisian park would look on a Saturday afternoon. Emmett couldn't take his eyes off the pigeons and ducks. After picking up dinner ingredients from Monoprix, we went home and enjoyed a candlelit dinner together.

On Sunday, we headed to another farmers' market near our house at the Bastille. This market is huge, and one that David and I were familiar with from previous Paris visits. Our first stop was to the chichi stand (churros). I know I'm going to be craving these fried sticks of dough rolled in sugar all week long. We picked up some seafood, fruits and veggies, and other goodies to last us for the next couple days.

After Emmett's afternoon nap, we took him to his first visit to Notre Dame and managed to get there right at the beginning of 6:00 mass. Emmett was mesmerized by the stained glass windows and the priest's "smoking yo-yo". We stopped at Haagen-Daazs for ice cream and walked to the Hotel de Ville (Paris' city hall) to feed Emmett a snack of yogurt and plums. Finally, we walked down almost the entire length of Rue de Rivoli before heading home for dinner.

Missed you guys at Andrew's party, but man, it sounds like you're having a great time out there.

When are you gonna buy Emmett a beret?

Enjoy all that yummy food for me! I'm perfecting the Pate Choux and puff dough in time for your arrival in December.
